Trinity Project
Awarded: £75,000

Region: Central

Holy Trinity Hazlemere Parochial Church Council is located in the village of Hazelmere in Buckinghamshire.

The project has refurbished and extended the church building to accommodate two large meeting rooms, three smaller breakout rooms, a toilet and a café. The lobby area was also converted into offices to create a community centre environment. The improvements have created more space and facilities for local charities and a variety of community groups, as well as enabling the church to become a hub for community members of all ages.

The building is now used regularly by a number of groups who support the community to improve their health and wellbeing and increase community cohesion. The groups include a bowls club, book club, toddler group and bereavement group, as well as groups that offer arts and crafts activities, exercise classes and support for refugees.

“We are already impacting the community. Our centre is used seven days a week and our Atrium café is open four days a week. Run by staff and volunteers, it provides a meeting hub for the local community. It is very popular and is used by people of all ages with a great atmosphere and ambiance. Our vision is to expand the centre’s use and we are discussing with other charities how we might enable them to operate using our facilities.”
