Replacement & Enhancement of Existing Climbing Wall & New Underground Artificial Climbing Complex
Awarded: £217,372
Region: Cross Border

Greater London Middlesex West (GLMW) Scouts is a County Scout Council that encompasses scout districts and groups from across West London and Buckinghamshire. GLMW owns and runs the PACCAR County Campsite located at Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire. The Campsite is open to all organised youth organisations and serves 45,000 young people each year.

The project replaced the existing dilapidated climbing wall at the campsite with a new structure to provide a realistic climbing experience across a range of abilities. An artificial caving complex was also built under the wall, providing a challenging and safe introduction to caving for the young people who use the campsite.

“For some time we had ambitions to upgrade our existing climbing wall which at nearly 50 years old had come to the end of its life. Our new climbing and caving complex will provide a realistic experience to our guests and potentially serve as the first steps to a lifetime enjoying climbing and caving – with climbing being featured in the Olympics for the first-time last year a future GB gold medallist could start their journey on our wall thanks to CEF and HS2!”
